How to install MojoLauncher on Android
Two official ways to install: the APK or Google Play. Plan on about five minutes, including the first game download.
Before you start
- A Minecraft: Java Edition account. The launcher is free, the game is not. See what is free and what is not.
- An Android device running Android 5.0 or newer. There is no iOS or PC version.
- Free storage: the app is about 82 MB and every Minecraft version adds more.
Option 1: Install the APK
- Check compatibility. Make sure your device runs Android 5.0 or newer and has at least 2 GB of free storage. 4 GB of RAM or more gives a much smoother experience.
- Download the APK. Download MojoLauncher-release.apk from the official release (about 82 MB) or open the Google Play listing.
- Allow unknown apps. When Android asks, allow your browser or file manager to install unknown apps. Only needed for the APK route.
- Install the app. Open the downloaded file and tap Install. The app appears as MJLauncher.
- Sign in. Open MJLauncher and sign in with the Microsoft account that owns Minecraft: Java Edition.
- Pick a version and play. Create an instance, choose a Minecraft version and tap Play. The first launch downloads game files, so use Wi-Fi.
Option 2: Install from Google Play
Open the official listing (package git.artdeell.mjlaunch) and tap Install. Play installs update automatically. Not sure which route to take? Read GitHub vs Play Store.
Your first launch
- Sign in. Use the account that owns the game, not a new one.
- Choose a stable release, for example the newest non-snapshot version.
- Leave the default renderer and memory settings for the first run.
- Create a Creative world and check the frame rate before changing anything.
If the game runs well, move on to best settings and mods.
Updating
The GitHub and Google Play builds share one package name, so either can update the other without uninstalling. Back up important worlds before major updates.
Verify your download
Check the file name, the size and the package name git.artdeell.mjlaunch. Our guide to the official Mojo Launcher APK and the article is Mojo Launcher safe explain how.
Troubleshooting
- "App not installed": free up storage or uninstall an older build signed with a different key, then retry. Back up your game folder first.
- "Blocked by Play Protect": this is a generic warning for apps installed from outside Play. Confirm the source is official and continue.
- Crashes on launch: try another renderer and lower the allocated RAM. See how to fix lag.
- Sign-in fails: check that the account owns Java Edition and update the launcher.
- Still stuck? Ask on Discord or open a GitHub issue with logs.
Install FAQ
Do I need Wi-Fi to install?
You need a connection for the first launch, because Minecraft game files are downloaded then. After that, many things work with less data.
Will installing from GitHub stop Play Store updates?
No. The GitHub and Google Play builds share the package name git.artdeell.mjlaunch, so either can update the other.
Which version should I start with?
A recent release version without mods. Once it runs well, add Forge or Fabric.
