Install steps

  1. Pick a game version. Choose the Minecraft version your mods support. Check the mod page first, versions must match exactly.
  2. Get the installer. Download the official Forge or Fabric installer .jar for that version to your device.
  3. Run the installer in MojoLauncher. Use the launcher's option to run a .jar installer and select the downloaded file.
  4. Complete the installer. Choose client installation and finish. A new version entry appears in the launcher.
  5. Add mods. Copy compatible mod .jar files into the mods folder of your game directory.
  6. Launch. Select the Forge or Fabric version and press Play.
Menu names can change between releases. If a label differs, look for the launcher's "install .jar / modloader" option.

Importing modpacks

Since the Iris release you can import local Modrinth .mrpack and CurseForge .zip modpacks directly in the launcher. Download the pack file first, then import it. The launcher creates an instance with the right version.

FAQ

Forge or Fabric: which should I choose?

Pick the loader your mods or modpack need. Fabric is common for lightweight and performance mods; Forge for many large content mods.

Why does my game crash after adding a mod?

Usually a version or loader mismatch, or a missing dependency such as Fabric API. Remove mods in halves to find the cause.

Can I import a modpack?

Yes. Local Modrinth .mrpack and CurseForge .zip packs can be imported.
