Mojo Launcher for iOS: Is There an iPhone or iPad Version?

Plenty of people on iPhones and iPads type Mojo Launcher for iOS into a search bar, hoping to play Minecraft: Java Edition on Apple hardware. This article gives you the straight answer first, then explains why, so you do not waste time with files that will not work.

Straight answer: there is no official Mojo Launcher for iOS. The project publishes an Android app only, through the official Mojo Launcher website, GitHub and Google Play.

Where Mojo Launcher is available

PlatformStatus
Android 5.0 and newerOfficial app, free
iOS / iPadOSNo official app
Windows / macOS / LinuxNo version, see why

You can verify the supported platform yourself: the project's Mojo Launcher Play Store listing is Google Play, and the code on GitHub builds an Android app with Gradle.

Why isn't there an iOS version?

Mojo Launcher works by bundling an Android build of Java, native libraries and an OpenGL translation layer, then running the real Java Edition game on top. Every one of those pieces is built for Android and Linux-style system calls. iOS has a different operating system, strict rules about running third-party code and no direct equivalent of Android's installable APKs. Porting the whole stack is a separate engineering project, and this one is focused on Android.

The original PojavLauncher project, which Mojo Launcher is based on, has had its own iOS efforts in the past. Those are separate projects with their own requirements and limits, and Mojo Launcher does not ship or support them.

Watch out for fake iOS downloads

Because the search term is popular, scammy pages exist. Typical signs:

  • A "Mojo Launcher IPA" or "Mojo Launcher iOS" button on a site that is not this one, GitHub or the Play Store.
  • Prompts to complete surveys, install other apps or enter account details.
  • Claims of "no jailbreak, instant install".

The project does not publish an iOS app, so none of these can be genuine. Our safety guide lists more red flags.

What you can do on iPhone

  • Play Bedrock Edition. The official Minecraft app for iOS is a different edition from Java Edition, with its own servers and add-ons.
  • Use a computer for Java. The desktop launcher runs Java Edition natively.
  • Use an Android device for Mojo Launcher. Even an affordable tablet with 4 GB or more of RAM can do a decent job. See the system requirements.

Getting started on Android

If you do have an Android device, installation is easy. Follow the step-by-step installation guide or read how to get the Mojo Launcher APK safely.

Frequently asked questions

Does Mojo Launcher work on iPhone?

No. MojoLauncher is published for Android through GitHub releases and Google Play. There is no official iOS build.

Is a Mojo Launcher iOS download on another site real?

Treat it as untrustworthy. The project does not publish an iOS app, so any file claiming to be one is not official.

What can I use on Android instead of iOS?

Any Android phone or tablet with Android 5.0 or newer can install the app. Newer hardware with more RAM works best.
