Most players want their own look in the game, which is why "Mojo Launcher skin" is such a common search. The confusing part is that the launcher does not store skins at all. Understanding where a skin really lives makes every problem easier to solve. This guide covers how skins work on Mojo Launcher, how to change yours, and what to try when it does not show up.
How skins work in Minecraft Java
When you join a world or server, the game asks the account service for the skin that belongs to your profile and renders it. The launcher's job is to sign you in so the game has a valid profile. That is why you will not find a "skin" menu in Mojo Launcher: it would have nothing to control.
Changing your skin on a Microsoft account
- Open the official Minecraft website in a browser and sign in with the same account you use in the launcher.
- Go to the skin section of your profile and upload a skin file. Skins are small PNG images, usually 64 by 64 pixels. Choose the classic or slim arm model that matches your skin.
- Save, then restart the game. Closing the launcher fully and reopening it refreshes cached data.
- Join a world and check. Press F5 to view yourself from the front.
You need your own Java Edition account for this. If you are not sure how that part works, read Mojo Launcher Minecraft download and free play.
Using ely.by for skins
Mojo Launcher includes Authlib-Injector, the component that powers sign-in through ely.by, an independent authentication and skin service. If you use it, your skin is handled by ely.by's own system instead of the Microsoft one. Set the skin there, sign in with that account, and it follows you. It is a different service with its own rules, so read their instructions, and use it for servers that accept it.
Where the launcher's avatars come from
Small avatar heads shown in the launcher UI are provided by Mineskin, which the project credits in its README. These are just thumbnails and do not change what you look like in game.
Skin not showing? Work down this list
1. Are you signed in to the right account?
If you uploaded your skin to one account and play on another, you will see the other account's skin. Check the profile name in the launcher.
2. Did the skin save?
Reload the profile page. If it did not save, check file size, format and dimensions.
3. Cache
Restart the game, or sign out and in. Skin data is cached, so it can take a short while to update on servers.
4. Version, server and mods
Offline-mode servers, some old versions and skin-changing mods behave differently. Test in a single-player world with a newer version first.
5. Sign-in problems
If you are signed in as a demo or offline player, the game cannot fetch an official skin. Sign out and sign in again with the account that owns the game.
6. Update the launcher
Sign-in and networking fixes arrive in updates. Make sure you are on the latest release. The changelog lists what each build changed.
Skin mods and packs
Client-side skin mods exist for Fabric and Forge and can show custom skins on your own screen. They work as ordinary mods, so installing them follows the usual steps in how to install mods. They are not an official substitute for an account skin, and other players will not see them unless the server supports it.
Safety note
You never need to download an APK or give your password to a website to get a skin. If a "skin changer for Mojo Launcher" asks for either, close it. Read is Mojo Launcher safe for what to watch out for.
